Storage Upton Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Upton in relation to the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our own operations and throughout our supply chains. Storage Upton is committed to conducting business ethically and responsibly, ensuring that people are treated with dignity and respect wherever we operate.
Modern slavery is a serious crime and a gross violation of fundamental human rights. It can take many forms, including slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, child labour, and human trafficking. Storage Upton recognises that every business has a responsibility to be vigilant and to take proactive measures to identify, prevent, and address any risk of modern slavery.
Zero-Tolerance Approach
Storage Upton has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not accept or condone any form of forced, bonded, or involuntary labour in our own activities or those of our suppliers and business partners. Our zero-tolerance stance is embedded in our internal policies, our employee code of conduct, and the standards we expect of any third party that provides goods or services to us.
All employees, contractors, and suppliers are expected to adhere to this policy as a condition of working with Storage Upton. Any suspected breach will be treated seriously and may result in termination of contracts, disciplinary action, or referral to law enforcement where appropriate.
Our Supply Chain and Supplier Audits
Storage Upton works with a range of suppliers and service providers, including those involved in storage equipment, facility maintenance, IT services, and professional support. We recognise that the greatest risk of modern slavery often lies within complex and extended supply chains.
To manage this risk, we are strengthening our supplier due diligence procedures. As part of our onboarding process, key suppliers are required to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour and human rights laws and that they have taken steps to prevent modern slavery in their own operations and supply chains.
Storage Upton is developing a risk-based programme of supplier audits, prioritising suppliers based on sector, geography, and the nature of the goods or services provided. These audits may include review of relevant documentation, site visits where appropriate, and follow-up actions where improvements are required. Where non-compliance is identified, we will work with the supplier to address issues within a defined timeframe, and if necessary, we will seek alternative sourcing arrangements.
Training, Awareness, and Reporting Channels
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery among our workforce. Storage Upton provides guidance and training for relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, contract management, and facilities operations, to help them recognise signs of modern slavery and understand how to respond.
We encourage a culture of openness and accountability. Employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to speak up if they have any concerns or suspicions regarding modern slavery or unethical labour practices associated with Storage Upton. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels or directly with management at any level of the organisation.
All reports will be treated seriously and handled sensitively, with appropriate measures taken to protect those who raise concerns in good faith. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who reports a concern about modern slavery.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing Storage Upton’s approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management team. They review the effectiveness of our policies, controls, and practices to ensure continuous improvement. We will monitor the implementation of our supplier audits, training programmes, and reporting mechanisms and adjust our approach as risks evolve.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually. As part of the review, we will consider feedback from internal and external stakeholders, regulatory developments, and any incidents or lessons learned. Where necessary, we will update our policies, procedures, and contractual requirements to strengthen our response to modern slavery risks.
By maintaining a zero-tolerance stance, enhancing our due diligence processes, and promoting transparency and accountability, Storage Upton aims to play a responsible role in combating modern slavery and protecting the rights and wellbeing of all individuals who are connected to our business activities.
